As of April 1, 2009, sales of the 2003 edition of the Rules book were discontinued.  All books shipped from now on will be the 2009 edition.

May I exchange 2003 books for the 2009 edition?

We are not able to exchange 2003 books, even if new, for the 2009 edition.  Please be certain when ordering of the version you wish to receive.

 Has the price of the books changed?

For the foreseeable future the price will remain the same.  The price still includes postage via Media Mail; Priority Mail is extra per number of books ordered.

  Which of the five books were revised?

The green Rules book, blue Visual Aid, and pink Enlarged Print books all must be revised at the same time.

 Will there be any changes in the rules?

                 The only change to the rules is in the section “Mah Jongg for Three Persons”, number 7.

 Are there any scoring changes?

Just one – letter F. on page 30 was deleted. It seemed too confusing to many players to determine the proper time to score the double.

 How many new hands were included?

More than twenty hands have been replaced in the book. The total number of hands was reduced, but there are enough to challenge the player of any proficiency.

 What other changes are there?

The format was changed so that each section of hands was included on one page per section.  It is far more player-friendly, with easier hands in the front of the book, progressing to more difficult hands in the back of the book.

 How often are the books revised?

It is the general practice to revise the books about every six or seven years.  We anticipate another revision in 2016; work has already begun for that book.

Are 2003 edition books still available for sale?

The 2003 green Rules book is still in stock.  Before ordering, please email for availability of the blue Visual Aid book as supply is very limited.  The 2003 pink Enlarged Print book is out of stock.

 May I exchange 2003 books for the 2009 edition?
